In July 2012, the members of Asia Cement have founded Red Cross Service Group, conducting house repairs for households with senior citizens and children. We have repaired 4 houses in 2012, 6 houses in 2013, 4 houses in 2014, 4 houses in 2015. The repair works include roof and floor repairs, papering walls, painting and cleaning the general vicinity. Also, we have groups from each establishment visiting senior homes and houses for disabilities every month to deliver goods and services.
Since 1973, Asia Cement has donated ₩200 million development funds for town near our plants and ₩12 million for roof repair project every year for the development of local community. We also communicate with our local residents through sponsoring cement for building House of Love, lending street sweeper, and plowing snow from streets.
To contribute to the improvement of education in the region, the late honorary Chairman of Asia Cement, Dongyeong Lee founded Mungyeong Girls' High School in 1956 and Munchang High School in 1970. And he founded Seobong Cultural Foundation in 1985 to offer scholarships. In 1997, Asia Cement contributed to Asong Scholarship Committee to help students in Jecheon.
With the belief of the late honorary chairman Dongnyeong Lee that holistic education comes from fine arts and physical training, Asia Cement has annually held Seo Bonggi Half Marathon since 1987. Our 29th event was held in November 2015, where over 600 people, including our employees participating at the Mungyeong Citizen’s Stadium. We will continue to give our best efforts to the development of Korea’s marathon by discovering excellent talents.
